So we built a blog. Mostly because we kept having opinions about the NFL in our group chat, and a group chat is a terrible place to be proven right months later.

If you’re new here: PickemSZN is a free pick’em game. You pick a winner for every NFL game each week, and your score is tied to live Betfair odds. Back the favorite that everyone backed? Fine, you’ll get your points. Call the upset that nobody saw coming? That’s where the real money is — except there’s no money, it’s free, you just get to be insufferable about it on the leaderboard.

This blog is the place where we’ll think out loud about all of it.

• Product updates. New features, the occasional bug we swear was intentional, and a heads-up on what we’re building next.
• Our picks, with the reasoning. Every week we’ll put our own picks out in public, before kickoff, so you can either follow along or watch us get humbled in real time. Both are fun.
• NFL stuff in general. Storylines, the games we’re actually excited about, the takes that won’t fit in a tweet.

We’re not going to promise a rigid posting schedule, because we’d only break it. But when there’s something worth saying — a new feature, a week worth breaking down, a take we can’t keep to ourselves — this is where it’ll land.

There are, admittedly, no picks to make right now — we’re deep in the dog days of the NFL calendar, that long stretch where “news” means a beat reporter describing someone’s footwork at OTAs. So go watch the World Cup instead. We’ll be here when the games that actually count come back.
